In 2010, a group of families began discussing the possibility of developing a classical, Christian school that would allow for quality family time, quality education, and quality discipleship for their children. Our shared vision included classical methods, a Christian worldview, and collaboration with passionate teachers. These common desires motivated us to prayerfully consider how to make this dream a reality.
Since then much prayer and research has gone into creating Gloria Deo Academy. The Lord has provided blessing upon blessing, answering prayers with delightful alacrity and providing faith-building encouragement along the way. One example is our partnership with the Riverside Community Church, a local Christian congregation. Riverside agreed to share their facility with us, stretching our tuition dollars so that we could hire qualified teachers from the start.
In the Fall of 2012, Gloria Deo Academy launched offering grades 2-9 with the goal of adding a grade each year. The next year, the Fall of 2013, GDA expanded with both younger and older grades, offering grades K-10. With the school nearly doubling in size, GDA added 3 portable buildings that included 9 classrooms at the back of the Riverside campus. In the Fall of 2014, GDA added 11th grade and more Upperschool classroom portables including a Science lab. Because of strong interest and our desire to encourage heart, mind, and strength, we also began our official athletic program.
